Percent Change Calculator for Students

The following free Percent Change Calculator can be used to calculate the change between two numbers (a starting value and a final value) as a percentage.

To use the calculator and perform a percent change calculation, simply enter the starting value and the final value and press ENTER or DONE to calculate percent change.

The percent change calculator performs the following 3 steps:

  • Find the absolute value of the difference between the starting value and the final value

  • Divide that difference by the starting value

  • Multiply the result by 100

*Note that for any percent change problem, the answer will be expressed as a positive percentage. When the staring value is greater than the final value, it will be a percent decrease. When the starting value is smaller than the final value, it will be a percent increase.
